What better way is there to immerse yourself in the rendering of ghost stories but with a guided walk through a darkened, tree-lined historic district like Portsmouth’s Olde Towne? On Friday, October 24, over 1,000 visitors found what guests for over 34 years have discovered: the Olde Towne Civic League’s annual Ghost Walk is second to none for bringing home the spooky spirit of Halloween. On Saturday night the Olde Towne Business Association’s Safe Trick of Treat saw over 9,500 kids collect over 101,000 pieces of candy from the neighborhood’s shops. Also on Saturday, Portsmouth was declared the winner of The Great Pumpkin Challenge, having displayed 209 carved pumpkins along Olde Towne’s seawall vs. Norfolk’s 53. If you missed it this year, put it on your calendar for 2015 and join the fun.
